Project Overview

Taranaki’s most popular photography project is back – with a new name, new website, and renewed focus on showcasing the beauty of the Taranaki region.

My Taranaki is a hub for photographers of all levels, to participate in the promotion and appreciation of this little slice of paradise many of us call home. With more than 1000 photos already contributed, it’s also a great place for anyone around the world to see what the region has to offer, and we encourage you to share the website with others who might appreciate it as well.

A quick browse through the homepage proves that Taranaki is as diverse as it is beautiful. Take a visual trip around 300km of rugged coastline, or through native forest befitting of a Tolkien tale. Indulge in the lush greens of the rolling countryside, or the vivid orange and red skies at sunset. And let’s not forget Taranaki’s biggest icon – the mountain. Standing tall at 2518 metres above sea level, and visible from almost all corners of the region, Mt Taranaki (also known as Mt Egmont) is an integral part of the region’s culture and fame.

My Taranaki is also about the photographers. With over 140 contributors, this project has already pooled some amazing talent and brought together a fantastic group of like-minded artists. Some of the photographers are regular contributors, and it has been a delight to watch the progression of their work as the project has grown over the past year.

If you have taken some great photos of Taranaki, and would also like to participate in the project, you are more than welcome to register on the website and start uploading. Please review the Photo Requirements page as there are some specifications which have to be met. And if you need assistance in uploading a photo, check out the How to Upload Photos page.

To all website visitors, whether this is your first time or you’re checking in for some more great photos, welcome to paradise and enjoy the visual feast!
